Roehampton Cleaner is committed to providing cleaning services in a manner that protects the health, safety and welfare of our employees, clients, visitors and members of the public. This Health and Safety Policy sets out our approach to managing risks associated with cleaning activities in homes, offices and commercial premises.
We recognise that effective health and safety management is an integral part of delivering high quality cleaning services. Everyone working for or with Roehampton Cleaner has a responsibility to follow this policy and support a culture of safe working.
The aims of this Health and Safety Policy are to prevent injury, ill health and damage to property arising from our cleaning operations, to identify and control hazards associated with cleaning tasks and to provide and maintain safe systems of work, equipment and materials.
We also aim to ensure that all staff are competent to perform their duties safely through appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision, and to continually improve our health and safety performance through regular review and monitoring.
Roehampton Cleaner management is responsible for implementing and maintaining this Health and Safety Policy, ensuring that suitable resources are provided to manage health and safety risks and carrying out and regularly reviewing risk assessments for cleaning tasks and working environments.
Management will ensure that all cleaning equipment and products are selected, supplied and maintained with safety in mind and that staff receive relevant information on safe working methods for each site and task. Management is also responsible for promoting a positive health and safety culture and leading by example.
All employees of Roehampton Cleaner have a duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions. Employees must follow instructions, training and safe systems of work provided by the company and use equipment and materials correctly and safely.
Staff are expected to report hazards, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to management without delay and to cooperate with any accident investigations or health and safety inspections. Employees must also refrain from any behaviour that could put themselves, colleagues, clients or the public at risk.
Roehampton Cleaner carries out risk assessments for all significant cleaning activities. These assessments identify hazards such as slip and trip risks, manual handling, use of chemicals, electrical equipment, working at height and lone working, evaluate the likelihood and severity of harm and determine appropriate control measures.
Based on the findings of these risk assessments, we develop safe systems of work tailored to specific tasks and locations. These may include procedures for safe use of cleaning chemicals, safe movement and lifting of equipment, use of step ladders or other access equipment, and arrangements for secure lone working in client premises.
We recognise the potential risks posed by cleaning chemicals and other substances used during our services. Roehampton Cleaner ensures that all products are stored, handled and used according to manufacturer instructions and relevant safety data.
Employees receive training in safe dilution, application and disposal of cleaning products, in the correct use of personal protective equipment and in recognising signs of exposure or adverse reactions. Wherever possible, we select products with reduced environmental and health impacts while still achieving effective cleaning results.
Roehampton Cleaner provides suitable and well-maintained equipment for all cleaning tasks, including vacuum cleaners, mops, buckets, floor tools and any specialist machinery required for particular surfaces or environments.
Equipment is inspected regularly, and defective items are taken out of service immediately. Employees are instructed not to tamper with safety guards or electrical components and to report any faults as soon as they are noticed. Only trained and authorised staff may operate specialist equipment.
All new employees receive an introduction to our Health and Safety Policy and safe working procedures before starting cleaning duties. This induction includes information on site rules, emergency arrangements, accident reporting and safe handling of equipment and chemicals.
Ongoing training is provided to refresh knowledge and introduce new methods, products or equipment. Supervisors monitor working practices, provide guidance and ensure that staff follow agreed procedures. Additional training is arranged when risk assessments identify new or increased risks.
Where hazards cannot be eliminated or controlled adequately by other means, Roehampton Cleaner provides appropriate personal protective equipment. This may include gloves, masks, eye protection, footwear or clothing suitable for particular cleaning tasks.
Employees must use the protective equipment provided, keep it in good condition and report any damage or loss. Management will replace worn or damaged items and ensure that equipment is suitable and correctly fitted.
All accidents, incidents and near misses that occur during cleaning activities must be reported to Roehampton Cleaner management as soon as possible. This includes injuries, property damage, ill health potentially linked to work and situations that could have resulted in harm.
We investigate reports to identify root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Records of accidents and incidents are retained and reviewed to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Roehampton Cleaner familiarises staff with emergency arrangements relevant to each client site, including fire evacuation routes, assembly points and first aid provisions. Employees must follow client instructions and site rules in the event of an emergency.
Where staff work alone or outside normal hours, we put in place additional safeguards, such as check in procedures or agreed communication methods, to ensure their safety and prompt response in an emergency.
This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed regularly and whenever there are significant changes in our operations, services or legal requirements. Feedback from employees, clients and other stakeholders is considered as part of this review.
Roehampton Cleaner is committed to continuous improvement in health and safety performance. By working together, following established procedures and maintaining awareness of risks, we aim to provide reliable cleaning services while safeguarding the wellbeing of everyone affected by our work.
